My doctoral research is in recognizing pipe organ stops (huh?) in audio recordings.
Status
I will post news from time to time on this feed.
I'm in the thick of writing my dissertation now. I had taken a hiatus (I began work at Facebook in the fall of 2009), but I now have a short time to work on it full-time. Hopefully I can avoid ending up an eternal ABD.
In summary my results are: Pipe organ stops can be recognized by machine learning using only the harmonic spectrum, but it's limited to stops in isolation.
